When cleaning bathroom faucets and shower faucets, don’t forget about cleaning your shower head. When cleaning your chrome bathroom shower faucet, always use a soft rag on faucets to avoid scratching or damaging the finish.
Cleaning Shower Faucets
When cleaning bathroom faucets and shower faucets, don’t forget about cleaning your shower head. The symptoms of a clogged faucet and clogged shower head are the same (uneven spray and low flow) as is the cause (mineral and deposit buildup), but rather than disassembling the faucet part, it’s better to try soaking your shower head.
White vinegar is a great home remedy for a clogged shower head. Simply remove the shower head and allow it to soak in the vinegar overnight. If you can’t remove it, fill a plastic bag with the vinegar and tie it to the showerhead.
If vinegar isn’t strong enough, there are many commercial products that are designed to remove buildup, as well. The process will likely be similar, but follow the instructions on the bottle to be sure.
Cleaning Faucet Finishes
While you’re cleaning the inside of your faucets, don’t forget about cleaning the outside. Cleaning faucet finishes is trickier than it seems, depending on the material. If you’re cleaning brass faucets, for example, you will need a special brass cleaning product to ensure you don’t damage the finish. When cleaning chrome bathroom faucets, you should avoid using abrasive cleaners or those with ammonia in order to maintain the shine.
